I finished Dreams in two weeks!

I’m so, so proud of it. I was worried that trying to write a book in a month would lead to me being unable to do the story justice, but I completely love it.

I’ll tell you more in the Cruise Control update. In the meantime, I’ve got two giveaways, and four books to tell you about, first.

GIVEAWAYS

This BookFunnel promotion has 148 books in it, all romance books in Kindle Unlimited.

I got My Heart’s Protector because it seems super adorable and I love the idea of the accidental text sparking romance!

Get those books!

This StoryOrigin giveaway has 54 romance books in it. You’d better believe that I got Shadow Phoenix, which is a rock star romance…I don’t know if you know this, but rock star romance is kind of my thing.

That being said, I don’t read that much of it. I get all up in my head about my books not being good and compare mine to what I’m reading…but this one piqued my interest!

Cassie made a deal with her parents that if she could not make a decent living as a photographer within a few years she would give up her dream and go to law school. The deadline is looming, but she has a plan to buy more time with another book and perhaps a gallery show of her work.

What better location for some unique shots than an abandoned mining town in Arizona? While she’s not the type that goes looking for a hook-up, her best friend told her to wrangle a gorgeous cowboy while she was out there. How can she resist a sexy ranch owner who fits the bill?

Jake Wilder is busy trying to make his ranch a success to honor his grandfather’s legacy. He doesn’t have time for romance. Then Cassie shows up with her trusty camera and luscious curves and he can’t seem to keep his hands off of her. The problem is she’s only there for a few days and Jake isn’t a one-week-stand kind of guy. He wants forever.

Their passion burns hotter than the desert sun. Are they destined for a short fling, or are they meant to be more?

CRUISE CONTROL

I was going to say that I don’t have news about anything other than Dreams, this week, but that’s a lie!

I do mostly have stuff to tell you about Dreams, though. I’m even going to give it its own section because I love it so much!

DREAMS – MICHELLE AND MATTHEW

So, I finished this yesterday. It took me two weeks to the day to finish the book I started in 2008. I wrote 50,544 words in those two weeks and the book stands at 66,458 words before it’s edited.

The editor is so brilliant, and I think the book is going to be amazing by the time that editing is finished. I’m so, so proud of this book. I feel like the story is unique, and the way it all plays out is just so beautiful but also heartbreaking and painful because…you know…I’m me. I can’t just write a straightforward love story. 😉

I really love Cheli and Matt and their story, though. I like to think that I did it justice, even though I smashed it out in a two-week period in the end!

The plan from here is to leave it up until the Watty Award winners are announced. If it doesn’t win, then I’ll unpublish it from Wattpad, and publish it on Amazon. If it wins…yay?

If you want to read it, you can read the book in its entirety for free on Wattpad here. Get it while it’s hot/before I don’t win the Wattys! 😝

If you do read it, voting for each chapter and sharing it with people you think might like it would be much appreciated!

THE WEDDING – HEATHER AND HARRISON

Oh, I have news! I’ve been in contact with the narrator. Guys, she’s just one of the most beautiful human beings. She’s been having a tough time, so the audiobook for The Wedding is delayed until October, and I’m okay with that.

I also told her that since I’ve still been dithering on finalising The Album for print/audiobook to put that at the back of her queue if that will help her to stress less about what she needs to get done.

She warned me that it would mean the audiobook for The Album wouldn’t be ready until March or April next year if she does that. So, I’ve asked if there’s any chance it could be done in time for a release on March 14th, that would be awesome.

It would be one year to the day since the release of The Album, and also the same day that Gabriel’s Album is released. That would be pretty cool.

Anyway, that’s the news for this. I stand firm in that she was the best person to narrate my books, and even though there’s a delay, I’m happy to stick with her and have her narrate not just these two books, but any books I need narration on in the future. 💗

I’m probably not treating my author career enough “like a business”. But, I like to treat people the way that I would want to be treated if I was in their shoes. Not only do I feel that, creatively, she was the best person for the job, but I am glad to be able to extend empathy to another human being rather than kicking them to the curb for not hitting a deadline.

THE BABY – LITA AND SEBASTIAN

I’ve got a Zoom call with the editor on Friday to talk about where we’re at with this edit. As everyone knows, I need a constant stream of validation to reassure myself that I’m not a terrible writer (ask me again where the inspiration for Ariana’s laundry list of neuroses came from! 😉).

This week’s validation came from my editor. She has a Bachelor degree in English, so when she says something like this, it really means a lot to me…

(No spoilers in this one!)

I love that she loves the book, and I hope that you guys will love it, too, when it comes out.

Some of you may recall that I changed email providers a month or so ago. I think that I caught all the advance readers in the changeover, but to be sure, I sent an email out last Friday (with a sneak peak of the Lita and Sebastian’s first night in it!).

If you didn’t receive that email, and you either had already told me you wanted to be an advance reader, or you want to be an advance reader, reply to this email and let me know. I’ll add you to the list. I’ll be sending The Baby out for advance readers, probably in late September/early October, depending on how editing goes.

The Baby is available for pre-order here and remember that if you do pre-order, you should fill out this form because everyone who pre-orders is getting one of the chapters rewritten from Sebastian’s POV a year before anyone else gets to read it. 😘

And that’s it for this week. I didn’t end up writing the Sebastian chapter because I just totally smashed through Dreams. I have no regrets…except, I do want to slip back into baby Cruise Control stuff sometime soon, especially since they’re about to leave camp and go home to Chicago/meet Heather!

Anyway, I hope you’re having a great week. Happy reading!
